Ask your Agent?

With our new website, we are creating an agency Blog, "ASK YOUR AGENT"  if you have a question about coverages, payment plans, discounts, insurance companies, we will do our best to answer your questions on this blog.

For starters, let's talk about the weather today.  It is springtime and it is raining.  Do you have sewer drain backup coverage on your homeowners insurance policy?  Do you have a flood policy?  Are these coverages the same? What do they cover?

No homeowners policy offers flood coverage.  Flood insurance is underwritten by the National Flood Insurance Pprogram (NFIP), a branch of FEMA.  If I policy can be written through the National Flood Insurance Program, or many private carriers.  The cost of flood insurance is set by the national flood insurance program and the same coverage and same deductible is the same price no matter who offers you the coverage.  Flood insurance, is by its name for flood!  Surface water that enters your building, creating flood water damage.

Sewer and drain backup coverage, is for the back of the sewage, and water from the city sewer systems, or SUMP pump failure, resulting in the water backing up into your basement, these types of loss are covered by an endorsement on your homeowners insurance policy.  For most insurance companies this is an optional coverage!

What other questions do you have?
