The rental contract often obligates the renter to pay for items not covered under the policy. The two most common and costly are diminished value and administrative fees. First party collision and comprehensive coverage’s do not cover these. Also, rental companies often pursue undocumented or artificially calculated loss of use-related loss of income. This may be disputed and is sometimes less than fully covered under the policy’s first party transportation expense coverage, particularly when all the rental company’s vehicles are not rented out or when the rental company provides insufficient documentation of having suffered a real loss of income. We have seen examples of coverage gaps, particularly related to diminished value, where thousands of dollars have been charged directly to the customer’s credit cards, a charge often difficult to ever have reversed. Some customers say, “I have full coverage.” Diminished value, the biggest uncovered exposure, is specifically excluded in our Family Auto Policy, and is not a covered first party loss under any of our other policies. The policy also affords no coverage for payment of administrative fees that a rental company may seek. Some loss of use may be covered; however the rental company would have to document their loss of use for us to consider payment for it under transportation expense, a coverage not designed to match that exposure at all. The rental contract may automatically entitle the rental company to large amounts for loss of use, diminished value, admin fees, and possibly even total loss related costs for fairly minor damages not anywhere near the vehicle’s total value, with no requirement that they have to substantiate these charges before they can collect them from the renter. In summary, when a customer rents a vehicle and asks, “Should I purchase the collision damage waiver the most accurate answer is “Yes, you should, if you want to make sure that you so not experience any difficulties or coverage gaps in the event of a collision or comprehensive loss.” The purchase of this coverage should eliminate practically and costs, including those discussed, should a rental vehicle be damaged. No doubt about it, CDW can sometimes be pretty expensive. But the uncovered costs that a policyholder may face if a loss occurs can be far greater. Having a conversation with the customer about this exposure helps them understand what risks they take upon themselves if they decide not to purchase this coverage. (This summary was jointly written by the ERIE Claims & Law departments)</a10:content>

Thank for attending our Holiday Balanced Breakfast

Thank you to everyone who attended our Holiday Balance Breakfast! Thank you also to our host Cardinal Stritch University and their College of Business and Management. We all learned a great deal from our presenters, Push Functional Fi...

<a10:link href="http://www.bronsoninsurance.com/blog/Thank_for_attending_our_Holiday_Balanced_Breakfast.aspx" /><a10:content type="html">
Thank you to everyone who attended our Holiday Balance Breakfast!

Sounds too good to be true, right? Fortunately it is true. Erie Insurance offers Rate Lock, where your premium will not change until you add or remove a vehicle or driver, or change your primary residence. Rate Lock protects you from increases due to accidents and also from inflationary increases that often come at renewal time.

In this economy, where your gas, milk and most everything else is going up in price, wouldn't it be nice to know that one cost will remain constant until you change vehicles, drivers or your address?

If you are budget-minded, on a fixed income or want some stability in this ever-changing world give us a call and we will be happy to further discuss this option to you!

But did you know that there are different kinds of insurance agents and brokers — and the one you choose can make a big difference in the type of service you get and the choices you're offered? Here's the difference:

Captive agents represent just one insurance company. As part of their business agreement, they offer only that company's products, services, and coverages.

Independent agents and brokers offer products from different companies. Often, they can offer more choices and savings because they can review multiple options to find the right mix of companies, coverages, and rates for you.

Because they represent many different insurance companies, independent agents can allow you to shop around with competing carriers and get you the best deal. So rather than spending hours gathering quotes from various companies, you can get it done with one simple call or visit to your independent agent or broker.

Another plus to working with an independent agent or broker is their ability to offer guidance for all your insurance needs. In some cases, bundling your car, home, motorcycle, boat, and/or RV policies together can save you big bucks. Leading insurers offers multi vehicle / multi policy discounts, so don't leave out any of your cars or other "toys" when getting your insurance quote.

To learn more, talk to your local independent insurance agent.
</a10:content>

DID YOU KNOW THAT SEPTEMBER IS LIFE INSURANCE AWARENESS MONTH?

Do you have auto or homeowners insurance? What about insurance on your boat or RV? If you have insurance on any of the items above, or any other property that you own, you are insuring that property even though you hope you never have to ...

<a10:link href="http://www.bronsoninsurance.com/blog/DID_YOU_KNOW_THAT_SEPTEMBER_IS_LIFE_INSURANCE_AWARENESS_MONTH.aspx" /><a10:content type="html">
Do you have auto or homeowners insurance? What about insurance on your boat or RV? If you have insurance on any of the items above, or any other property that you own, you are insuring that property even though you hope you never have to use the insurance to replace that item.

Do you have life insurance? I hope, and your entire family hopes, that you live to a ripe old age, and when it's time you pass on peacefully in your sleep.

However, we also know that some of us will pass on too soon. When this happens income may be lost while debts remain. Spouses, children, businesses may suffer and dreams may be unfulfilled. This is where life insurance can help. Life insurance is for your loved ones. Life insurance can provide survivors with income and a legacy to help fulfill dreams. Although life insurance may not fill the emotional void, it can help ease the financial loss.

Life insurance comes in many shapes and sizes. Term products are available for 10, 15, 20, and 30 years, and you can have a guaranteed rate of coverage and premium for the specified term.

Whole life is a product that you pay for throughout your whole life, the face amount stays the same as does the premium. This type of policy builds cash value, and you can take loans against it.

Universal life can have flexible premiums, and can be used as retirement or growth funds as well as life insurance.

Annuities, with both qualified and nonqualified funds, can be used to grow your retirement nest egg that you can use as an income stream when you get older, or it can be left to your beneficiary.

Whatever your goal, dream, or need, life insurance is an important part of your life and estate planning.

Most insurance products exclude earthquake damage.
The exclusion would look like this:
by earth movement, due to natural or manmade
events, meaning earthquake, including land shock
waves, or tremors before, during, or after a volcanic
eruption, mine subsidence, sinkhole, landslide,
mudslide, mud flow, earth sinking, rising, or shifting.
Direct loss by fire, explosion, sonic boom, theft or
breakage of glass resulting from earth movement,
mine subsidence, sinkhole, landslide, mudslide, mud
flow, earth sinking, rising or shifting is covered.
The insurance company will allow you to buy earthquake coverage for additional premium. Unlike the set dollar value deductible on your insurance policy (i.e. $1000), earthquakes riders will have a deductible of a percentage of the value of the building. (i.e. 1% 5%)

The last earthquake to be centered in Wisconsin struck just south of Milwaukee on May 6, 1947 and caused only minor damage.
So when will the next earthquake strike Wisconsin?
Is protecting your home or business from an earthquake worth the premium to you? Would you like to know how much this coverage would cost you? Give us a call, we will be happy to talk over the options with you!

For starters, let's talk about the weather today. It is springtime and it is raining. Do you have sewer drain backup coverage on your homeowners insurance policy? Do you have a flood policy? Are these coverages the same? What do they cover?

No homeowners policy offers flood coverage. Flood insurance is underwritten by the National Flood Insurance Pprogram (NFIP), a branch of FEMA. If I policy can be written through the National Flood Insurance Program, or many private carriers. The cost of flood insurance is set by the national flood insurance program and the same coverage and same deductible is the same price no matter who offers you the coverage. Flood insurance, is by its name for flood! Surface water that enters your building, creating flood water damage.

Sewer and drain backup coverage, is for the back of the sewage, and water from the city sewer systems, or SUMP pump failure, resulting in the water backing up into your basement, these types of loss are covered by an endorsement on your homeowners insurance policy. For most insurance companies this is an optional coverage!
